New Mexico State University – The Mark and Stephanie Medoff Theatre

New 100,000-SF Arts Complex is a three-story academic building which houses a 430-seat proscenium theatre with two balconies, a double-height rehearsal hall/dance studio, shared classrooms, offices for the theatre, dance and art departments and public spaces.  The new building is the result of a partnership between the University and the community and serves both academic and community with cultural events and educational activities.

The Theatre includes a 30-seat orchestra pit.  Acoustics environment is supported by a quiet under-floor displacement air distribution system and sound-diffusive custom-pleated metal fabric balcony fronts which enhance the sense of envelopment without compromising speech intelligibility.  Sophisticated AV systems offer flexible sound and video projection to support a wide variety of theatrical productions.  The Rehearsal Hall is a double-height multi-use space with sloped shape that provides acoustic control and is supplemented by floor-to-ceiling adjustable curtains.  8-foot high fully-mirrored moveable panels can be deployed along two sides of the room for dancers, or stored for drama rehearsal.
