New York University – Center For Academic And Spiritual Life

New 92,600 SF, six floor multi-use facility includes a chapel, classrooms, lecture hall, offices, support spaces, music practice rooms and rehearsal spaces for the NYU Symphony Orchestra and serves as a hub for interactive connection with the new NYU Abu Dhabi Campus.  Located on the southside of Washington Square Park, the Center brings together students and scholars from a wide variety of religious backgrounds into one multi-faith and multi-function building.

The Center’s prominent site is extremely important to NYU as it represents the University’s Design Excellence Initiative for quality design, efficient use of space, effective use of resources and sustainability.  AD’s team addressed unique acoustic design challenges including low-ceiling orchestral rehearsal space, noise and vibration control of below base-building mechanical equipment room, and sound isolation and room acoustics for highly sound- sensitive video teleconference and distance learning seminar rooms.
